Dr Ben Wallwork

Dr Wallwork is an Ear, Nose and Throat, Head and Neck Surgeon who has been in adult and paediatric practice in Brisbane since 2007. He graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours in Medicine in 1997 and completed his training as an ENT Surgeon with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005. Dr Wallwork completed further advanced fellowship training in the UK in 2006 and 2007 and has a special interest in sinus surgery, rhinoplasty, head and neck/thyroid surgery. He completed a PhD in 2006 and is an Associate Professor at the University of Queensland.

Dr Wallwork provides a full range of services for adults and children with Ear, Nose and Throat complaints. He has worked at Great Ormond St Hospital for Sick Children in London and now sees children in his rooms at Greenslopes and cares for them as inpatients at the Greenslopes Private Hospital.

Dr Wallwork has a subspecialty interest in rhinology. He has extensive experience in endoscopic sinus surgery and rhinoplasty. Dr Wallwork is a member of the Queensland Skill Base Unit and works  with his neurosurgical colleagues in performing complicated endoscopic skull base and pituitary surgery.

As a member of the Princess Alexandra Head and Neck Cancer Unit, Dr Wallwork is involved in the care of patients with Head and Neck Cancer. During his fellowship at Guy’s Hospital in London (part of the London South-East Cancer Network) he gained additional advanced training in Head and Neck/Thyroid Surgery.

Dr Wallwork has ongoing research interests in the areas of Head and Neck Cancer and Chronic rhinosinusitis. He has previously completed a PhD investigating the medical management of sinusitis and is a supervisor for Masters and PhD students investigating these topics. He is an Associate Professor at Griffith University, a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and is involved in teaching of medical students, junior doctors and ENT surgical trainees.

Dr Wallwork operates on both adults and children at Greenslopes Private Hospital and looks after public adult patients at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dr Wallwork now also see patients at the Brisbane Medical Specialists Centre, 51 Orford Street, Wellers Hill. All appointments for Wellers Hill are made through his Greenslopes rooms.
