Dr Raefe Gundelach

Dr Raefe Gundelach graduated from medical school at the University of Queensland in 2001. He underwent his basic surgical training and advanced ENT surgical training in Queensland. Dr Gundelach obtained his Fellowship in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (FRACS, ORL-HNS) at the end of 2009.
In 2010-2011 he obtained further post-fellowship training in Toronto, Canada. During this time Dr Gundelach worked in one of the largest head and neck cancer units in North America, working at the Toronto General and Princess Margaret Hospitals. Here he gained extensive experience in operating on complex head and neck malignancies.
While in Toronto Dr Gundelach also developed his skills in thyroid and parathyroid surgery under the tutelage of Professor Jeremy Freeman at Mt Sinai Hospital. This is the largest thyroid and parathyroid unit in Canada and one of the largest in North America. This experience was enriched by working with Dr David Terris in Augusta, Georgia who has popularized the minimally invasive video assisted thyroidectomy (MIVAT) in the United States.
As well as his sub-specialty interests Dr Gundelach is well experienced in all areas of ENT surgery, both paediatric and adult.
Privately Dr Gundelach operates at Greenslopes Private Hospital. He has public appointments at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and is a member of the Princess Alexandra Head and Neck Cancer Unit.
Dr Gundelach now also sees patients in rooms at The Mater Health Centre, 9/16 Weippin Street, Cleveland. All appointments for these clinics are made through his rooms at Greenslopes.
In his public appointments he enjoys teaching medical students, junior doctors and training ENT surgeons. Dr Gundelach looks forward to providing a complete ENT service to his patients and referring GPs.
